Preview
The Milwaukee Brewers close out another home stand on Friday, September 25, when they welcome the St. Louis Cardinals to American Family Field for a 7:40 PM ET first pitch. Robert Gasser gets the ball for Milwaukee against St. Louis right-hander Michael McGreevy. With the regular season winding down, every game in late September carries weight in the standings, and this NL Central matchup between division rivals is exactly the kind of game that defines how a team finishes. You can catch it locally on Brewers.TV Presented by Potawatomi Sportsbook or on WTMJ 620 AM.
Probable Pitchers: Robert Gasser vs. Michael McGreevy
Gasser gets the start for the Brewers in what shapes up as a manageable matchup on paper. The left-hander has worked his way through the Milwaukee rotation and will look to give the club length and keep a Cardinals lineup off the board that features Jordan Walker hitting third and Masyn Winn in the seven spot. McGreevy counters for St. Louis, a right-hander who will face a Brewers order that manager Pat Murphy has set up with Garrett Mitchell leading off and William Contreras hitting third. Without detailed ERA and win-loss figures available for either starter, the emphasis shifts squarely to execution and run support.

Three Keys to Watch at American Family Field
- Gasser's command early: Getting ahead of Cardinals hitters in the first two innings will be critical. If Gasser can work efficiently through the top of the St. Louis order — Wetherholt, Herrera, and Walker — and limit walks, Milwaukee has a real shot at keeping the bullpen fresh late.
- Contreras and Yelich in the middle of the order: The Brewers need production from the three and five spots. Contreras hitting third and Yelich slotted at DH in the five hole gives Milwaukee genuine run-scoring potential against a Cardinals pitching staff that will look to McGreevy to set the tone.
- Luis Lara and the bottom third: Lara, Frelick, and Hamilton hitting seven through nine represent a stretch of the order St. Louis cannot overlook. If those three can get on base and put pressure on McGreevy, it opens things up for Mitchell and Turang to do damage when the lineup turns over.
Prediction
This is a winnable game for Milwaukee at home. Gasser has the opportunity to deliver a quality start against a Cardinals lineup that features some youth and uncertainty in the middle — Leo Bernal at cleanup and Thomas Saggese at third are not names that should overwhelm a prepared pitching staff. The Brewers have the lineup depth to generate runs, and home-field advantage at American Family Field on a Friday night gives this crowd an edge. Look for Milwaukee to grind out a 4-2 win and send the home fans home satisfied.
